SUMMER COURSES

June 10th - July 1st, 2024, up to two courses (new dates)

June 9th - June 30th, 2025, up to two courses (new dates)

Summer is a wonderful time in Greece. The weather is hot and sunny and the sea warm. Paros island is full of international travelers and interesting people of all kinds. The island locals are open and expressive and in top form for relating to visitors. Shops, tavernas, galleries, and of course beaches, are brimming with life. As well, the many islands we visit offer an array of different environments, from the truly laid back and relaxed, more primitive atmosphere of Anti-Paros, to the vibrant lifestyle of Mykonos and Santorini; while the historical islands of Delos and Naxos present their magnificent classical sites.

The HISA Summer Course teaching style is intensive, explorative and most of all experiential. Classes are often held outdoors, in the mountains, or museum courtyards, even on the beach. The idea is that students are offered as immersive an experience as possible. HISA’s goal is to have you see and know as much as possible of Greece, the islands, the people, and the historical milieu. Photo shoots, writing exercises, and field trips are all based on merging your art and academic experience with the local culture. While all aspects of course syllabi will be fulfilled, we encourage students to strive for a creative and enlightened experience, and to feel at ease while they are here. To accommodate this atmosphere we have gone to lengths to provide a secure and friendly, community environment.
