With its dramatic landscape and breathtaking views of the Caldera, or volcanic lake, Santorini is an unforgettable destination. During our study excursion, we’ll explore the entire island, including the famous Minoan city, Akrotiri. Over this site, once buried in the massive eruption in 1500 BC, and now carefully excavated to reveal its amazingly advanced social and cultural significance, is a two-acre steel-laced roof, an architectural wonder in itself. The main towns of Santorini, Fira and Oia, are both precariously perched on multi-layered steeply rising terraces. We will hike along the edge of the volcanic rim, and have class on the cliffs of Oia, while the sun sets before us.
